Grant Clelland has been named the new editor of the Financial News, taking over from William Wright, who has been promoted to managing director.

Clelland is now responsible for editorial content across all Financial News products, in print and online. He will work with news teams from Wall Street Journal Europe.

Clelland read History and Economics at the University of Oxford, and studied journalism at the University of Cardiff before joining the BBC to work in a range of production and editorial roles on programmes including Newsnight, Business Breakfast and Working Lunch.

Clelland has been deputy editor at Financial News for the past four years, and prior to that was associate editor at The Business newspaper in the U.K. and business editor at the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong.

"Grant’s proven skills in leading and managing our editorial team and his broad journalistic experience of more than 20 years make him the ideal candidate to build on the growth and success at Financial News over the past decade, and to take our expanding stable of online and print publications to a new level," said outgoing editor William Wright.
