James Cridland, founder of Mediauk.com and currently digital media director at Virgin Radio, has been appointed BBC head of Future Media and Technology, audio and music.

His new role, which he will start on 9 July, will focus on the new media technology strategies within BBC Audio and Music.

Erik Huggers, formerly of Microsoft, will also join the team as Future Media and Technology group controller.

He will start in late May and will control the overall balance of the portfolio of future media services.

Paul Dale, who started at the beginning of this month, becomes Future Media and Technology controller for BBC Vision.

He was previously technology director for Sky Networked Media, which deals with BSkyB's non-linear content.

"I am delighted to welcome Erik, Paul and James to the BBC, which now completes the Future Media and Technology leadership team," said Ashley Highfield, director of BBC Future Media and Technology.

"They are extremely talented individuals who will each make a significant contribution to the department's continued and future success."
