Silk FM has promoted former broadcast journalist Lee Page to news editor.

He will now be in charge of the news output for the station, which broadcasts across East Cheshire, he told Journalism.co.uk.

Page studied broadcast journalism at Staffordshire University before freelancing for various stations, including Star Radio in Bristol, Singal in Stoke-on-Trent and Touch FM in Coventry.

He later joined Silk FM in his most recent role, a position he held for 12 months.

Commenting on his new role, Page said: "I'm still relatively young for an editor, but got the job because I worked hard and aimed high. If you do what you do well then the opportunities will come along every so often."
