After graduating with a BA Honours degree in journalism, Rowland joined South West News as a junior writer in September 2007.
She was promoted to senior writer in April 2008.
While studying Rowland worked at Mercury Press Agency, Merseymart and Love It magazine.
"The biggest challenge is balancing time to make sure I get my own work done as well as help others," Rowland told Journalism.co.uk.
"Be prepared to work long hours and have lots of focus and always be on hand with advice for juniors."
