Suzanne Locke has switched positions at Emap Middle East from online editor of MEED.com to head of digital development for two publications - MEED.com and AMEInfo.com.

Her new role will include building a team in support of digital product development across Emap's Middle Eastern portfolio, Locke told Journalism.co.uk.

Prior to her employment with Emap Middle East, Locke launched Xpress4me.com and worked on gulfnews.com.

She was one of the first online journalists to work for Sky News and later helped launch Sky's movies site and Sky Showbiz online.

"Be curious. Keep learning about cool new stuff online and always think how you can apply it to your role," Locke advised to budding digital journalists.

"Be adaptable: you're a writer, a sub, a multimedia producer, a web stats analyst, a 'tecchy', a tester and a user champion. It's the ultimate hybrid role."
