She will be responsible for overseeing all motoring content for The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph and Telegraph.co.uk.
Executive editor of Telegraph Media Group, Mark Skipworth, said in a press release: "I am delighted to promote Erin to this role. She is a first-rate journalist and will do a great job as head of motoring."
Baker joined the graduate trainee scheme at The Daily Telegraph in 2000, before becoming the commissioning editor on motoring, which is a role she has stayed in for the past four years.
She is also on the committee of the Guild of Motoring Writers and is a judge for the Meguiar's Car Enthusiast of the Year award.
