Cave graduated in 2004 and joined the corporate tax service line at Deloitte in 2005 after spending some time traveling. Despite studying for a chartered accountancy qualification and qualifying in 2008, he decided on a change of career and got in contact with a financial journalist he had met the year before. After completing an internship at Financial News, and working on several more projects, he was offered a job on the trading and technology desk.
Cave told journalism.co.uk: "Whilst I do have a financial background, I'll be pretty much starting from scratch in terms of knowledge of the sector so I'll have to puck up a lot in a short space of time. Journalism also has a very different culture to accountancy, so that will present a challenge."
