The Wall Street Journal Europe has appointed former Telegraph Group advertising sales director Jonathan Wilson to the new role of director of marketing and business development.

He will be responsible for developing and leading marketing activities across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Mr Wilson, who spent 15 years working for the Telegraph Group, most recently held the post of sales director for display advertising, overseeing sales, marketing, research and commercial developments.

Jon Housman, managing director, WSJ Europe said: “With Jonathan's strong track record in marketing, advertising and new business development, he'll be an asset to the Journal Europe at a time when we're showing very positive results.

"We're the only newspaper to show growth across all three key pan-European readership surveys; we're showing steady circulation growth and the new Style Journal has been very well received by luxury goods advertisers."
