William Reed Business Media
The Grocer is looking for a brilliant senior editor to spearhead our multi-channel coverage of the hugely important, always topical, and high-profile fresh and chilled foods sector.

The vacancy on this award-winning desk has opened up following an internal promotion.

We are looking for an experienced business or consumer affairs journalist (ideally with editing and managerial experience) to deliver news, analysis, blogs, features, profiles and other content, including two major supplements.

You’ll be covering stores involving food safety (think: Horsegate), consumer trends, the financial performance of leading players, health and obesity, innovation, price wars, the environment, food security and, of course, the economy

As well as a strong nose for a story, hard work, strong writing and editing skills, you’ll need to be calm but quick, organised, highly intelligent, ambitious and with a strong work ethic.

You’ll also be managing a team of journalists and assorted freelancers so the successful candidate should be able to mentor and nurture talent.

Knowledge of retail, food and drink, farming or other related areas is preferable but not essential.

The Grocer, one of the biggest, most high-profile and most interesting business titles in the UK, is the award-winning flagship of the highly successful William Reed group, a family-owned magazine, new media and events business, whose multi-media interests include operations in the UK, France and the US.

It’s also set to further expand in the next few weeks, with exciting plans to develop our multi-channel offer.

We’re based just 30 minutes from the lively seaside town of Brighton, and 10 minutes from Gatwick, with its fast connections to London and the world (recent press trips have included Sri Lanka, South Africa, Singapore, the Seychelles, Italy, Spain, France, Germany and New York).

We can offer a competitive salary and a great benefits package

Benefits include:

  • A contributory pension scheme
  • Life Assurance
  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Free car parking
  • Free shuttle service from Three Bridges station if you travel in by train
