Solar Media, part of Henley Media Group, is a successful and growing media business. We are looking to hire an experienced journalist to write news, features and blogs across our portfolio of publications.

 Solar Media offers an extensive range of print and online publications covering developments in the global solar energy industry. In addition to being highly respected worldwide for the quality of the up-to-date news and analysis on www.pv-tech.org and www.solarpowerportal.co.uk, our technical journal Photovoltaics International is considered to be an essential industry reference tool on cutting-edge technical developments. Solar Business Focus magazine meanwhile has a global digital distribution and a growing reputation for providing authoritative insight into the downstream solar market.

The ideal candidate would be a tenacious and self-starting journalist with two to three years’ experience in news, features and blog writing, preferably on a technical topic (engineering, physics, electronics, architecture). The role will involve some sub-editing, so the successful candidate will have meticulous grammar and punctuation skills, and some experience in proofreading and sub-editing. Excellent time-management and organisational skills are essential, as is previous experience in working on busy daily news sites with a demanding deadline schedule. Strong social media skills are also required.

 Proof of previous work – both writing and sub-editing – is essential.

 The role will involve the following:

• Sourcing, researching and writing news stories, features and blog articles for our websites, taking ownership of specific patches of our coverage
• Generating industry contacts and expanding our pool of outside contributors
• Researching & commissioning editorial content for various print publications
• Managing deadlines according to requirements
• Using social media to broadcast news, updates and to develop communities among our readers
• Adhering to house style
