We are looking for a news editor with extensive experience in the B2B sector and an interest in politics. The successful candidate will have a track record of breaking exclusive stories, be enthusiastic about online journalism and have an aptitude for management.

Local Government Chronicle is the UK’s leading title for senior local government officers. It has extensive contacts in government and on councils across the country, helping it to set the agenda in areas including local government politics and finance, local economic development and the integration of services between councils and the NHS.

LGC is part of EMAP, a member of the Top Right group. EMAP’s B2B brand portfolio spans the retail, fashion, architecture, built environment, environment and public sectors. It is a market leader in magazines, online content, awards ceremonies and conferences.

The main duties of the role are:

  • maintaining and enhancing the quality of LGC's news coverage online and in print

  • enhancing LGC’s online presence

  • focusing on exclusive news, including investigations and data research

  • leading, coaching and managing a team of reporters

  • editing and proofing, working with the production editor

  • writing/collating our showpiece ‘agenda’ news features

  • representing the magazine externally where relevant.
