Wanted: Part time political journalist
With over 150,000 visitors a month, Politics.co.uk is one of the UK's leading political websites. Our team of journalists produce their stories from deep within the corridors of power in Westminster, where they were the first digital journalists to gain access to the lobby.
We're an impartial political website with no political affiliation, which prides itself on standing out as an independent voice in a landscape where the norm is to nail your colours to the mast.
We're looking for a highly talented journalist to join our editorial team.
Responsibilities include: Writing copy, diary planning, commissioning comment pieces, tracking social media trends, administrative duties, acting as an ambassador for politics.co.uk at events and occasional media appearances.
The job will be 20 hours per week on a flexible, part-time, shift-based system. Pay will be competitive.
You must be able to demonstrate:
- Two years or more experience in the industry.
- An ability to attract traffic through SEO, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit and others with vibrant coverage of the day's events.
- The ability to produce authoritative, concise, engaging copy under severe time restraints.
- An excellent grasp of social media, Google and the blogosphere.
- An authoritative understanding of British politics.
- And a bursting contacts book.
