International Herald Tribune
The International Herald Tribune, the global edition of The New York Times, is seeking sub-editors to work on a casual basis for its London newsroom.

Ideal candidates should have at least 3 to 5 years of experience editing articles for daily news organizations, and they will be expected to edit all types of coverage -- from news to business to culture – in the American idiom. They should be  proficient in grammar and usage, understand the application of house style, know how to check material for accuracy, and demonstrate creativity in the writing of headlines and other display type. Knowing how to fix a troubled story with skill and diplomacy, with no damage to the writer's voice, is essential. Supervisory, layout and social media skills are a plus, as is a second language.

Applicants should have a strong interest in international news and trends and work flexibly and collegially as part of an around-the-clock global news-gathering and production network. They should have significant deadline experience. Successful candidates pass a series of written editing tests that culminate in a live tryout. Current openings are for temporary leave replacement needs, but talented casuals would be well-placed for any permanent vacancies that arise.

All candidates must have EU or UK residency/working rights.

Interested? Send a current resume to applying@iht.com with “Sub-editor’’ in the subject field. Please note, only those who pass to active candidacy will be contacted.
