Writer/Editor
Full- or part-time – 6-month initial contract


Fast-paced, innovative Leeds-based digital agency needs a brilliant Writer/Editor to work on editorial projects for some of the UK’s top brands.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented wordsmith with a passion for storytelling to make an impact in the online and social media world. The key requirements in the role are excellent writing and editing skills, the ability to craft compelling stories that resonate with different audiences, and fastidious attention to detail. The successful candidate will love talking to people, have a passion for creating concise, compelling copy, and will work fast and effectively without close supervision.

What you’ll be responsible for:
  • Writing compelling and informative stories, articles, blog posts and social media output in a clear, accessible and friendly voice.
  • Editing copy to the highest standard – writing will sparkle, copy will be spotless and headlines or tweets will grab readers’ attention.
  • Interviewing people from all walks of life in person and over the phone to land stories and quickly turn around high-quality editorial.
  • Laying out, publishing and scheduling stories, articles and social media posts using a range of purpose-built CMS tools (specific training will be provided).
  • Moderating user-generated content and spotting those little gems that could be developed into brilliant stories.
What we’re looking for:

You’ll be able to demonstrate your awesomeness right across the spectrum of editorial skills – we need someone with a great eye for a story who is also a confident and capable interviewer, a determined newsgatherer, a dynamic writer and an eagle-eyed sub. You’ll also appreciate good layout and design.

You’ll have good experience of producing great editorial work – perhaps as a journalist, PR professional or similar – and you’ll be someone who enjoys chasing down stories and seeing them through to fruition.

You’ll have an in-depth understanding of storytelling – knowing instinctively how to approach any editorial challenge that comes your way. You’ll appreciate when and why to adopt a straight, newsy style and when to throw in a quirky drop intro.

We’re looking for someone with real enthusiasm for people who genuinely enjoys communicating and working in a fast-paced, collaborative and creative environment.

Online/web/social media experience would be a bonus but is not essential. You’ll be tech-savvy and up to speed with all the usual IT packages – basic Photoshop and video editing skills would be helpful.

You’ll be a quick learner and a team player who is willing and able to contribute constructively to a wide range of projects, but you’ll also have the ability to manage your own workload, prioritise your time and hit your deadlines.
