The Daily Mail has taken over from the Evening Standard as this year's daily newspaper of the year
Copyright: PAThe Sunday Times was named Sunday newspaper of the year, in a category where the Independent on Sunday and Mail on Sunday were also shortlisted.
The Guardian's phone hacking coverage lost out to the BBC's Panorama in the scoop of the year award. The Panorama episode documented abuse at a care home and also won at the Broadcasting Press Guild awards in March.
Sky News celebrated two wins, with Mark Kleinman named business journalist of the year and Alex Crawford broadcast journalist of the year.
The Telegraph's Ian Cowie picked up the award for consumer journalist of the year.
