A new fellowship scheme has been launched to encourage more reporting on the European Union.

Applications for the initiative launched by Fondation EurActiv and the Robert Bosch Stiftung are now open. Twelve young journalists will be selected in 2011 to participate in a week-long training course in Berlin followed by 10 weeks of EU-related assignments and work in Brussels.

The fellows will be given the opportunity to participate in press conferences and invterviews with heads of states and governments, according to a press release from specialist EU news organisation EurActiv.

Eligible applicants must have between two and 10 years of journalism experience and two fellows will be selected from France, Poland, Spain and the UK, and four from Germany.

Full details of how to apply and the criteria are available at this link. The deadline for applications is 17 January 2011.
