Opening the newsrewired conference today, MSN executive producer Peter Bale announced a new editorial code of conduct which has now launched on the company's website.

He said that MSN wants to follow in the footsteps of other journalism organisations in being open with readers in what they can expect.

"It is a public statement of what we want to do in journalism," he said. "Proper journalism organisations always have these. It is about being authentic, being straight up with our news and showing the obligations our users can expect us to meet."

He told the conference MSN has experienced a dramatic expansion of readers interested in hard news, which they are trying to support with a range of outlets, such as the Press Association, Reuters and Bing.

He also shared examples of the new technology MSN is using to tell stories, such as Photosynth and Deep Zoom, which both use photographic image to create an interactive experience.
