The Lovie Awards is the European counterpart of the international Webby Awards, and aims to recognise the best efforts across all things digital including online media, social, mobile apps, and advertising.

This year, Vice competes with Dazed Digital and Vogue.es for Best Writing – Editorial, and is also in the run for Overall Social Presence.

Vice News is nominated in the news website category alongside Wired Italia and Where the Drones Strike, a platform built on a database of drone strikes in Pakistan from the Bureau of Investigative Journalism.

Vice News' Simon Ostrovsky is one of the two finalists in the Best Web Personality/Host, for his Russian Roulette series on the Ukraine crisis, up against Jamie Oliver's Food Tube.

In the internet video documentary section, Vice's Warlords of Tripoli is featured alongside Channel 4's Unreported World Shorts and The Guardian's Fast ice: rescue from Antarctica.

BBC iPlayer is nominated alongside SoundCloud and MUBI in the media streaming service category.

The full shortlist can be found on the voting platform for the People's Lovie Awards.

Finalists were chosen by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the judging body of the awards, which counts Songkick co-founder Michelle You, Delft University of Technology's Vic Hayes, and Stephen Fry among its members.

Votes for the People's Lovie Awards can be cast until 9 October, and all winners will be announced on 14 October before the 4th Annual Lovie Awards ceremony on 11 November.
