International news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP) has launched an innovative, interactive news site in Japan that invites users to personalise their own news pages.AFP-BB combines 24-hour agency news coverage and photos with blogs and bulletin boards, inviting users to comment on breaking news stories.
The site also features news photography from across the AFP network, which users can bookmark and add to their own profile on the site.
The project was set up in partnership with Japanese web firm Softbank and is run by 25 Japanese-language journalists. It will be supported entirely by web advertising.
