A new site was launched this month selling everything in audible format including audible versions of leading newspapers.

Audible news is now for sale online with the launch of the new audible.com web site dedicated to the sale of the spoken word.

The site offers exclusive access to two weeks' free trial of audible versions of the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Also available online are horoscopes, books, radio programmes and other spoken-word materials.

The site is pinning its hopes on the development of digital audio players which it also sells direct from its homepage. Cunningly the site also offers adapters so users can plug the players into car stereos.

The site claims to have more than 20,000 hours of copyrighted material for sale and has entered into an exclusive alliance with Amazon.com so it can feature Audible content on the bookseller's site.

Audible.com offers free samples from its homepage alongside book offers such as Stephen Hawking's Brief History of Time which was available this month for $1.
