sandstorm
The Christmas season this year has brought upon us an unexpected desire to share with our readers something to make their reporting lives just a little more comfortable.

For those of you that regularly journey away from home in the line of duty, Journalism.co.uk is planning to give away some luxury handmade Sandstorm Kenya travel bags in the New Year - thousands of pounds worth.

However, we're not just going to give them to any email-capable old Herbert. No, we want a little something in return.

That little something is evidence of innovative online multimedia use to deliver a piece of journalism - relating in some way to travel.

It could be a piece of travel journalism, war, foreign, local, political or sport reporting. Anything that has involved a journey of some kind as part of the story.

Used Google Maps to chart your journey taking the temperature of potential hotspots in the run up to elections in Nigeria? Created interactive slideshows to document bus routes in your local town or followed a piece of news that's speeding across you patch? Then get in touch.

No stipulation on what kind of stories can be entered or the media involved, nor will we stipulate that entrants have to be professional journalists. We will willingly take entries from students and others who have documented a journalistic travel project.

However, if you have just bunged your holiday snaps on Flickr and bloggged/sent an email from your poolside destination I wouldn’t bother sending us anything.

Only entries that have genuine journalistic merit and have been created and posted at some point in 2007 will be considered.

We will award two prizes for the entries we consider to make the best use of multimedia to tell their stories in new and exciting way.

prizebagEntrants are free to nominate themselves or others. The only requirement is that they have a European address to which prizes - should they win - can be posted.

First prize will be a Sandstorm Kenya Mocha Leather Explorer hold all and a Canvas and Cowhide Mara bag.

The runner up will receive a wash bag and Mocha Leather Explorer bag.

Entries should be with us by Friday, 18 January, 2008. Email details to Oliver at Journalism.co.uk.
