Emap Automotive has re-vamped its CAR title and shifted the bulk of its content online.

Nearly 100 pages of magazine content has been removed from the print edition and transferred to the web.

The September print issue of CAR will see a re-launch in a square format and its focus will be shifted onto features articles as much of the content is ceded to the web version.

Emap says the move is part of it commitment to give its leading brands a multi-platform presence.

The announcement comes just hours after Fast Car magazine announced plans to alter its website and print magazine to focus on user-generated content.

Jason Barlow, CAR's editor, said: "We have stripped the magazine of all the elements that a website can handle better, which means breaking news, first drives, scoop pictures, searchable data and many interactive elements.

"These have been migrated to CAR online, which will be updated daily and will become the definitive source of automotive news and information."
