Reporters Without Frontiers (RSF) has raised concerns about security legislation passed by the French government last month.

The LOPSI regulations enable police with a court order to gain direct access to any computer files, including the information stored on servers.

RSF says this new bill, coupled with 2001 regulations on security and the European Parliament's recently passed directive on the protection of telecommunications data, will further threaten journalists' ability to protect their sources.
