Getty Images is finalising a deal to supply mobile magazine publisher Sendandsee.com.

Finland-based Sendandsee publishes two weekly titles for mobile phones: celebrity mag Whopla! and Riento, which covers international sports.

Sendandsee believes the deal is an important bridge between old and new media, demonstrating that the biggest players in the media industry now recognise the potential of the mobile content market.

"Getty is a high quality partner, with the best images available for news items," said Jussi Lystimäki, a spokesperson for Sendandsee.

"Getty's infrastructure is one of a kind, and its reach and sourcing is just excellent."

Sendandsee will continue to use other photo libraries for specialised images, such as snowboarding and extreme sports.

The announcement follows recent similar deals between image bank Superstock and wireless content provider 9 Squared, and photo library Corbis and mobile phone company Infospace.

Getty has a reputation for identifying niche markets within the photographic industry, and has successfully bought up a range of independent online photographic agencies in the UK.
