Media giraffes set to converge at AmherstThe US-based Media Giraffe Project, which profiles pioneering figures and trends in the media industry, is holding its first conference next year.

'Democracy and independence: sharing of news in a connected world' will run from 29 June to 2 July at the project's base at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Several of the project's 'media giraffes' will be speaking at the event, discussing the impact of the web on the financing, publishing structures and rights models of the US media industry. The development of more two-way news processes and the subsequent implications for democracy wil also be on the agenda.

The organisers are inviting proposals for presentations and panel discussions before registration opens on 1 January.
