More than 18 per cent of the UK's online journalists keep rodents, according to a report released this week by Association of Rodent Scientists and Educators (ARSE).
Mickey Squeak, freelance journalist and director of ARSE told dotJournalism that the new site would be a godsend.
"My gerbils are a constant source of friendship and amusement - especially in those dark, lonely early morning hours just before deadline," he said.
"Thanks to the genius of the world wide web, we can now share all our stories and adventures with gerbalists around the world."
