A former chief sub-editor of the Scottish Sun has launched a weekly newspaper for Twitter.

Using a Wordpress blog site, founder James McIvor went live with the first weekly edition of the All Tweet Journal on Thursday.

"The newspaper is for people who use Twitter regularly and who want to share their news with a wider audience," McIvor said.

"We are taking that [microblog] format and putting it onto a regular looking newspaper but using the same user names that Twitter does."

The first 'splash' featured a 'Twitterer' called @weblivz who has launched a website to spot authentic celebrities on Twitter.

"We tied it in with Stephen Fry (@stephenfry) appearing on Jonathan Ross' (@wossy) show where they discussed Twitter," McIvor told Journalism.co.uk.

"We want Twitterers to tell us their big news - they may have landed a big contract, developed new software, launched a new website or product, or something big may have happened in their personal life that they would like to share with fellow Twitterers - and we will publish it."

The newspaper is currently weekly, but plans to go daily in February, said McIvor.

According to McIvor, more is less: "Even when we go daily, space will be at a premium.

"We will only run one splash story, one picture element and one ad/promo - we will only publish the best stories."

This minimalist approach will help attract advertisers, McIvor said.

While the newspaper is online-only, print editions will be available to specially order for £5, while PDF copies are free to download.

"We expect people will buy the paper that they appear in," McIvor added.

When asked if investing in a single application was risky, McIvor said no: "All I'm investing is my time - there are no overheads."

This is McIvor's second online venture following the launch of Scooped!, an online service which mocks up newspaper fronts.
