The figure for the 233 sites, which include companion sites for the Bristol Evening Post, Leicester Mercury and Bath Chronicle, rose by 39 per cent year-on-year.
The sites also saw a 25 per cent increase (900,000) in unique users since November last year.
News content on the network also received a boost with an 84 per cent growth in unique users to the sites' news channels compared with January 2008, a press release from Northcliffe said.
Commercial site Motors.co.uk posted a 31 per cent growth in unique visitors from January last year, while Northcliffe's Jobsite, which is also available via the 'thisis' network, saw a rise of 7 per cent year-on-year.
"These figures are extremely exciting and show that we are going in the right direction with our online proposition. Northcliffe Media has been actively growing its online presence in order to provide our advertising partners with new local audiences and the latest results are testament to this work," said Mike Rowley, director of digital for Northcliffe Media, in the release.
In October 2007, the last time the Audit Bureau of Circulations Electronic (ABCe) registered unique users to the for the 'thisis' sites, 2,358,492 were recorded.
Last September the publisher signed up to the ABCe's six-monthly audit for the Northcliffe Media Network, which includes 10 of its regional titles.
