WSJ in five-day freebie

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) website will be free to non-subscribers for five days next month in an effort to boost subscription numbers.

WSJ claims to be the web's largest paid subscription news site, and says that 90 per cent of people who tried a free trial in the past year signed up for a full subscription.

The entire site will be free from 8 to 12 November and sponsored by alternating blue-chip firms.

WSJ currently has more than 700,000 paid subscribers.
