The New Media Industrial Council will allow the union to better represent the interests of new media journalists, providing support, training and advice on employment issues.
Current members may be working in new media but registered under another of the union's sectors. Journalists working on newspaper websites, for example, might be registered under the newspapers and agencies sector so the union is urging these people to contact its membership department.
Online journalists working across mobile, email and digital publishing platforms can join the union now to sign up with the new media section.
