1m new readers for WSJ

The Wall Street Journal Online's open house promotion last month generated one million additional visitors for the site.

The site has more than 700,000 paid subscribers and records nearly 6 million unique users.

From 8 to 12 November the entire site was free to users, with sections sponsored by blue-chip firms. The promotion boosted page views by 30 per cent.

• WSJ Online recently announced a new mobile phone news service for US customers. Subscribers pay $3.99 each month for Wall Street Journal news, stocks and portfolio information which can be viewed on their phone. The service was developed in collaboration with mobile media firm Summus and will launch in January 2005.
