Citizen site takes off

Posted: 19 January 2005 By: Jemima Kiss

Another citizen journalism project launched in the US this week.

TakeBackTheNews.com (TBTN) will feature content submitted by its readers as well as discussion forums, a weblog and live news feeds.

The site will cover national as well as international news. The executive editors are looking for volunteers to act as editors, contributors, bloggers and topic-specific contributors.

"Because TakeBacktheNews.com involves many contributors submitting information from many sources, the influence of any one person or any one source is largely negated, and the danger of bias in TBTN’s news presentation greatly reduced," said co-founder Craig Henderson.

"Widespread participation is what the site's about."

Details on how to contribute to the site can be found on the TakeBackTheNews.
