The Guardian launched its 27th annual Student Media Awards today, rewarding the best UK student journalism.

The 13 gongs on offer include best student reporter, best student columnist and best publication design.

The best website category will be judged by Guardian Unlimited editor-in-chief Emily Bell and Thinner Media founder Steve Bowbrick. Entries should combine good design with ease of use, and judges will be looking for sites with innovative web content, a strong identity and an understanding of the audience.

Prizes include cash, easyJet flights and work experience at Guardian Unlimited. The deadline for the best website category is 6 May; all other applications must be in by 8 July. Students can apply on the Guardian Unlimited website.
