Web journalism pioneer to speak in London
Ohmynews.com founder Oh Yeon Ho will be speaking about the power of the citizen journalism community at Ifra's newsroom summit in London next week.The Korean news site is believed to be the largest citizen journalism project in the world and has published reports by 37,000 people since it launched in 2000.
In a later session, BBC News Interactive editor Pete Clifton and Steve Yelvington, strategist for Morris DigitalWorks in the US, will be speaking about balancing user-generated content with editorial credibility.
The two-day summit is designed to help news organisations develop practical strategies to cope with changes in the way media is consumed.
Further speakers include Tom Kent, deputy managing editor of the Associated Press in the US, and Andreas Berens, head of communication at Germany's Rheinische Post.
The 2005 newsroom summit will be held at the BBC Conference and Training Centre from 29 to 30 September. Places are €850 for Ifra members and €1050 for non-members.
