The BBC has launched a new section on its web site to demystify the world of RSS feeds.

The Feed Factory is aimed at "both technophobes and technophiles" according to the BBC, and attempts to explain in jargon-free terms what RSS feeds are, how they work and how you can set one up.

Tony Ageh, BBC controller, internet said: "RSS feeds are really simple to use, and a clever way of keeping yourself constantly updated on whatever it is you are passionate about.

"Feed Factory, not only seeks to demystify this world, but also showcases what you can get from the BBC on a single page, making it easy to find what you want straight away."

The site provides a guide to all feeds available from bbc.co.uk, categorised by theme and subject. It also offers information on newsreader applications and a list of the top feeds and most popular topics of discussion.
