YourHub.com invites users to set up their own blogs, contribute photographs and stories from their community and post details of local events. It was set up by the Denver Newspaper Agency (DNA) in May 2005 and has around 45,000 unique users each month.
Fifteen localised print editions are produced for the Denver region each week, compiled from an average 800 reader-submitted stories.
The publishers began to syndicate the model after enquiries from other local news publishers. YourHub.com is now linked to local news sites in six US states including the Knoxville News-Sentinel, Los Angeles Newspaper Group and Wichita Falls Times Record News.
The syndicated service includes an online classified system and a feature to convert web content to print. DNA charges an initial set-up fee of between $2,000 to $10,000 and a monthly licence of $250 to $5,000.
