Listening to podcasts isn't getting much more popular - so claimed a reported previewed at a podcasting summit in London earlier this week.

Research presentation by from the yet-to-be-released US Arbitron/Edison Internet and Multimedia Study 2007 stated that only 13 per cent of people surveyed for the 2007 report said they had ever listened to a podcast.

The previous years report put the number at 11 per cent.

The 2007 report also found that only one per cent more had watched podcasts than in the previous year - 11 per cent up from 10 per cent in 2006.

Maybe Independent editor Simon Kelner was right when he scoffed, in Monday's Media Guardian, that 'No-one listens to podcasts'. Ricky Gervais might disagree, though.
