ABC to audit European Online Journalism awards

The NetMedia European Online Journalism Awards (EOJA) has received a major credibility boost with the announcement that the Audit Bureau of Circulations new media arm will monitor the judging of this year's competition.

ABC Electronic will audit all the judges' scores in all categories throughout every stage of the competition, as well as verifying the number of entries to each category and the overall total.

The EOJA, which honours the work of online journalists, is now in its fourth year.

This year's ceremony will be held on 4 July in London's Mermaid Theatre.

Founder Milverton Wallace said: "Individual journalists and media houses invest a lot of time and resources to participate. This, combined with the tremendous growth in the number of entries since 1999, made it necessary for us to scrutinise the entrants as well as the adjudication process."
