The BBC has announced a new name, a new logo and a new design for its web services.

Designed to ease navigation and make the site simpler to use, the new look will be rolled out on 17 May.

From 6 May the site will be branded simply as BBC.co.uk rather than BBCi - the label previously used for both BBC web services and interactive digital TV. Interactive TV services will continue to be known as BBCi.

"The home page may not look that different, but we've actually cut down a lot of text to make it easier and quicker to use," said a BBC spokesperson.
