Finalists for the 2004 Student Journalism Awards have been announced, with seven students shortlisted for the best online journalist of the year.

Last year's winner in the online journalism category was Hasina Khan, a graduate of Nottingham Trent University. Two more of the university's students, Claire Ward and Matthew Martin, have been shortlisted for the award this year.

Further finalists are Katy Evans of Harlow College, Ian Baker of NoSWeat Journalism, Phill Huxley of University of Central Lancashire and Yomi Omogbeja and Caroline Stocks, both studying at Sheffield University.

Winners will be announced at a lunchtime ceremony on 2 July at the Brewery in London.
