Time.com will today unveil a redesigned homepage dedicating more space to show off 'world-class photography, and superb writers'.

Key elements of the revamp will be the addition of regularly updated news, which is given greater prominence on the homepage, the Ag - a news aggregator providing a daily summary of newspapers and blog stories - and new blogs.

The site is also offering a range of around 20 RSS feeds through which users can access content.

The overhaul co-insides with a major revamp of the print magazine that has seen publication day (in the US) shift to Friday from earlier in the week.

Time claims to have shifted to a Friday publication due to readers' recommendations and the effect of the internet on the news business.

Writing on the site, Richard Stengel, managing editor of Time, commented: "The new publication date reflects the way the internet is affecting pretty much everything about the news business. Today our print magazine and Time.com are complementary halves of the Time brand.

"Starting on 8 January, you will see a different Time.com. We've given the site a long-overdue face-lift, and you will find a sharp, dynamic, constantly updated news site within a new but familiar red border.

"You'll see more space to show off our world-class photography, our superb writers and columnists, and now you can start your day by checking our news blog, The Ag, which smartly aggregates and summarises the most important stories from daily newspapers and blogs around the world."
