The popularity of weblogs has reached Iran, where 1,200 blogs were launched in the past eight months - most of them by women.

The Online Journalism Review reflected that the net was providing a forum for women to talk about taboo issues like sex and relationships.

The internet is not censored by the country's Islamic government. Official figures show that there were 400,000 Iranians online in 2001, and that up to 15 million are expected to go online in the next two years.
