A Bathgate-based property maintenance company is bucking the current economic trend and is on track to double its annual turnover in Scotland this year.

Seddon Property Services, which has an office on Inch Muir Road, reported a turnover of £2.9 million for 2009 – and half year figures for 2010 show the company is now on course to turnover £6 million this year.

The company, which has had a base in Scotland for more than 10 years, has already created 30 new jobs this year, including new staff to handle an increased workload in the Highlands.

Kevin Shutt, who manages operations at Seddon Property Services' Bathgate office, said: "We have had an increase in work throughout Scotland.

"Much of the increase has come from repeat business through existing clients.

"We have also been expanding into the Highland region, securing contracts with a number of housing schemes based in the Elgin and Inverness areas.

"The expansion has allowed us to take on 30 new people in Scotland, including eight locally-based technicians recruited from the Highland area."
