Bootcamp at hay
Situated in Hay on Wye at the foot of the Black Mountains and close to the Brecon Beacons

Facilitated by Hay Outdoor Training, outdoor activity specialists providing bespoke outdoor programmes, led by Mick Collins ex-Special Forces and latterly the Priory Group and Cat Lawford, Personal Trainer, Weight Loss/Maintenance Expert and Fitness Instructor of the Year 2006 (Wales).

Bootcamp@hay focuses on lifestyle and won't guarantee women a drop in dress size. There is no pleasure starving our clients to achieve rapid weight-loss which is ultimately unsustainable. They will leave us with the confidence, self motivation and in depth nutritional knowledge to live a fitter, healthier, happier life.

Our recent 4 day bootcamp trial of nine women aged between 24 and 47 devoted much time to providing sound nutritional advice from our expert alongside many activities and challenges they had never experienced before. This built confidence together with the start of a new 'have a go' attitude. When they leave us they have the knowledge and motivation to plan their daily life to include good food, exercise and sufficient sleep.

Their ability to fully participate in an active programme with each day starting at 06.00hrs and finishing at 21.00hrs without feeling hungry is down to the fact that they learn how to get into a routine of eating well balanced food of reasonable portion size. Showing our clients how to cook, what to eat and how to prepare in advance is a crucial element to their ongoing success when they leave.

All of our trial group were amazed at their weight/inch loss over such a short period of time given that they ate well throughout and were never hungry. Most importantly, they left feeling more confident and motivated to reach their individual goals.

We recognise that for an individual to be prepared to participate in some form of regular exercise they must first understand why they exercise and how to exercise for optimum physical well-being – very few people have the time to devote huge chunks of their day to exercise, so it's important that whatever time you can afford is used effectively.

Post-bootcamp support is vital and we set up ongoing support to encourage our clients to keep in touch for information and guidance. We recognise that old habits take a while to shake off and new ones need to become well established to achieve the mind and body they hoped they'd have…….and keep it!

That's why we feel Bootcamp at Hay is not just a few days of hard work with drop a dress size gimmicks, but a start to building a mindset that brings about change that is for life!

A few comments from our trial group feedback forms:

  • "You guys are truly inspirational!"

  • "Thank-you, thank-you!"

  • "The most fun I've ever had without alcohol!"

  • "I have come away from camp happy, confident, super, super motivated…..it's changed me for the better!"
