Additional surgery may be needed as a result of complications such as capsular contractual (hardening of the scar capsule around the implant, see below), age-related changes to the breast (sagging) or the shell of the implant rupturing (splitting).
Carla Pitarelli knows this too well having gone through five surgeries after developing breast cancer in 2004.
Patented in the US and Italy and tested by clinical team experts, plastic surgeons and breast cancer consultants, CRISTALBRA is the answer to all these problems. This revolutionary post- surgery bra, is meant to be used instead of the highly uncomfortable post-operational bandages and patches, eliminating post-operations effects as well as allowing women an immediate recovery, giving them also the opportunity to resume their normal daily lives, freely moving the torso yet keeping a good posture, but also their femininity.
Designed, conceived and patented by Carla Pitarelli, the most famous Italian graphic artist in the 90s, CRISTALBRA brings together a great sense of aesthetic, the oldest Italian handcraft tradition (100% Made in Italy) and state of the art technology, ensuring an immediate fast and painless recovery.
Carla Pitarelli decided to design a bra that could resolve all the post-operation issues, having herself undergone three breast cancer surgery operations and two reconstructive surgeries, testing the bra on herself first of all, thanks to the support of the University medical team that treated her.
"It was an excruciating process. A women that has been diagnosed with cancer is an heart-breaking experience. I was at the top of my career and I am also a mother. I thought it was the end. I had to go through five breast cancer surgeries and the pain from the bandages and the patches was unbearable. I have always felt proud of my breast. The cancer experience process was not only scaring but also mortifying my femininity. A week after the surgery, I developed an allergy to the patches and then an inflammation. The second week instead, after going for a little walk in the park, I tore the internal stitches. I realised that there wasn't anything on the market that could ensure the breast's immobility, allowing women to recover fast while carrying on with their own busy lives. I decided to invest all my resources and nine years of my life to come up with a product that could help women."
In the UK, CRISTALBRA is being tested by the clinical team of the Imperial NHS as well as by the Breast Cancer Care Association on their patients.
In Italy, the bra has received the endorsement of various famous oncologists as well as plastic surgeons and recently of the LIT (Italian Association for Tumors).
Carla Pitarelli is available for interviews regarding her experience and her creation: CRISTALBRA.
