Liverpool Marketing Solutions is one of the newest outsourced sales and marketing companies located on Merseyside and are approaching their first birthday after being established on the 21st February 2011. Chris Haynes, managing director of Liverpool Marketing Solutions, was asked for his opinion on the subject of bonuses.
"Being in a performance based business myself I feel that bonuses are essential to motivate certain types of people. I remember first starting out in this industry and the financial rewards that were offered definitely pushed me to perform at levels that I previously thought were not possible".
Many claim there are certain industries that should be awarded bonuses based on levels of responsibility; stress involved with the work or loss of privacy through being in the public eye. "Different people need different types of motivation and I constantly try different ways within my own business just to keep things fresh. Some are motivated by trying new things and having new experiences or perhaps travel. Other may only get into a certain line of work for the benefits such as bonuses. I think the reason so many people were unhappy at the bonus awarded to Mr Hester was that they were not consulted which I think is a fair request seeing as the taxpayer now owns RBS" adds Chris Haynes of Liverpool Marketing Solutions.
"I heard a debate on the radio the other day which talked about the possibility of eliminating all kinds of bonus payments which I think is absurd. Although some of the amounts we see bankers being awarded appear obscene I think the industry they are in does dictate a higher element of financial reward than others. To do away with all bonus payments I think would totally remove the whole ethos of being rewarded for doing a good job" continues Chris Haynes of Liverpool Marketing Solutions.
Stephen Hester has decided to waive the bonus
yet the subject has again been brought into the public eye. Labour
leader Ed Miliband insisted that Mr Hester's decision to waive an
award worth almost £1 million did not draw a line under the issue
of City pay. Liverpool Marketing Solutions proclaim Labour will use
an opposition day debate in the Commons this Tuesday to urge
Conservatives and Liberal Democrats to back a £2 billion tax on
bankers' bonuses, which they say could fund the creation of 100,000
jobs elsewhere.
