The Online Media Awards identify the cleverest, boldest and most
original purveyors of online news and views from around the
world.
The 2012 awards are open for entering at www.onlinemediaawards.net
with a deadline of 23rd March.
Supported by the Press Association and the NUJ, the aim of these awards is to find the best application of talent and technology online.
Online Media Awards Director Lynn Lester explains:
"In our ever changing media landscape, media owners have had to
adapt very quickly to the ways in which they disseminate editorial
content to their audiences. The constant hard work that goes on
behind the scenes are often taken for granted and that is why these
awards are important – to give teams and individuals the credit
they so richly deserve. Our judges are looking to award those sites
that are the most thought provoking, engaging and well written from
across the world. You don’t need to be big to win; you just have to
be the best."
Last year’s winners included some of the world's leading websites: The Guardian, Huffington Post, The Sun, Mashable.com, BBC, Sunday Times, Mail Online, Reuters and the Telegraph, to name a few. But it wasn't just the big companies that were recognised, nursingtimes.net won the Chairman’s award, physicsworld.com won best specialist site for journalism and @naturenews took home the award for best Twitter feed.
Categories to enter cover all areas of media including: best site for news-led journalism, best specialist site for journalism, best use of social media, online editor of the year and digital writer of the year. Two new categories have been introduced for 2012, best local/regional news site and best national news site.
The awards are open to media owners, online publishers and editors. Entries can be made at www.onlinemediaawards.net and the deadline is Friday 23rd March.
Visit the awards website - www.onlinemediaawards.net for a full list of categories, to register for the awards and guidance on how to enter.
