The team behind the new online records website, Your Nutshell, is delighted to announce our support for our serving personnel by offering free membership to their families and themselves through their respective Family Federations.

An invitation has been sent to all those who qualify through the relevant forthcoming internal magazines – the Army Families Federation Journal, the Naval Families Federation magazine Homeport, and Envoy, the Journal of the RAF Families Federation.

In a nutshell, the website allows members to sum up and store securely online everything that is important to them and those around them, past, present and future. Services include an ongoing private diary and a growing memory bank with the facility to upload pictures, video, scanned documents and sound, as well as a place for recording last wishes and private messages, and for storing financial and legal details.

An interactive budgeting tool is automatically activated once records are entered into Your Money in a Nutshell, which gives users a twelve-month financial forecast over the coming months – especially significant to Forces personnel in riding out the current credit squeeze.

All files remain password-protected and private, but can be shared with others privately, through an email invitation. This gives access to whichever individual files the member wants to share and for their chosen number of days or weeks, after which time the nutshell locks shut again.

It’s a secure place where users can enjoy keeping running records of everyday life as well as answering hundreds of prompt questions about the past, to build a fascinating archive of memories to enjoy for posterity. Some members start new nutshells for babies and upload pictures and recordings of first words and steps, to share privately with family and friends away from home, or to archive for the future when the child is old enough to enjoy for him or herself.
