In some ways the camera on your smartphone is more handy than a DSLR.

You're also more likely to have a smartphone on your person at any given time, ensuring you don't miss that all-too-perfect shot.

There are literally hundreds of photo and video apps to choose from.

To simplify the task, Product Hunt has drawn up this list of 34 apps to bring out the best in photos and videos captured on mobile.

Some of them are a little silly, such as CatPaint – which enables you to add cats to any photo, of course.

Others, such as Camoji for animated gifs or 360Fly, in which you can produce 360 degree panoramic videos, might just become part of your go-to kit box for mobile multimedia.
