Course description


If you’ve ever struggled to find what you’re looking for on Twitter, then this is the course for you. 

Although it might sound easy to find someone or something on Twitter there’s a real art to getting it right.

This popular half-day course was originally designed for BBC journalists to help them unravel the mysteries of advanced Twitter search. 

The ability to sift news from noise, fact from fiction and to find what you’re looking for quickly is an essential skill for anyone – not just journalists. 

On this course, former BBC reporter Sue Llewellyn will show you how, with a few simple tricks and insights, you can really hone your search skills and become a Twitter search ninja in no time.

What will the course cover?
  • How to think like a thesaurus to refine your search
  • How to filter content, keywords, sources, verified users
  • How to tap into conversations to listen and engage with influencers and audiences
  • How to follow breaking news and monitor mentions of topics or brands
  • How to use geolocation to find people tweeting in specific places
  • How to spot potential trouble, identify threats and opportunities
Who is it aimed at?

Anyone who wants to learn more advanced Twitter search techniques: journalists, freelancers, PRs, marketing, entrepreneurs and brands.  Please note that this course is not suitable for complete beginners.

About Sue Llewellyn

Sue is a former BBC journalist who spent 15 years in the TV newsroom as a producer and reporter. Over the last five years  she has delivered board-level digital strategy and social media training across the BBC, RTÉ News, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Immediate Media Group and many others.

To date Sue has trained over 4,000 journalists, programme makers, PRs, editors and executives – including many of the top names in British broadcasting.  She is also a regular speaker at conferences in the UK and Europe on how journalists and newsrooms use social media.
